No Viper series 4 had suspension, it arguably didn't need it, looking good though.

What brushless motor is that? Looks like a HK-5035 by the size of it... and what ESC and batteries are you using? Thinking of going brushless with conker

The head is powered by an HK 3226. Way more power than we need.

So here is the first test of Predator Just the drive system, tail and head are working. The test was in part to spin the head up but mainly to check the balance of the machine and how it reacts with the head up to speed and under acceleration.

Tests were positive The head spins up too quick if anything. if you just go to full speed the robot flips over. Once more weight is added it will help but it will still be an issue. Once up to speed the drive is very good, even with the head tilted the balance is nice which gives it a very smooth drive. Very different to driving style to Venom.

Overall we are very pleased. Just finished producing a new dive mount to alter the battery positioning and ready to continue with the next stage.

Won't the arms being down sort that out?

Thanks very much Shane. Yes the arms being down does make a big difference. I wanted to test it in the worse set up scenario... against a flipper where the arms would need to be up ready to selfright. We did run tests with the arms down and it was very notice able.

Properly cool, James! Does look pretty nice to drive, even at full speed. How much will the finished head weigh, teeth and all?

And, do you intend to use Predator in full combat or just for demonstrations and such?

Can't wait to see it in anger, it's really looking good.

It will be for full combat. There is approximately another kilo to go on the disc yet. Amazingly the robot as it stands only weights 8.5kg so there is 5kg to add the tooth ring, finish the arm mech and armour the robot up so im really pleased.

Does the moving tail have a purpose or is it just for show?
                              Looks awsome by the way!
