Re: Bodge Job's Build Diary
here is a list of parts for my next robot (which has no name at the moment) that I already have.
my new robot is built so I can add different weapons or wedges or armour on it.
500mm by 500mm by 20mm nylon 6 has come for body and armour except for the top and bottom which I'm using 1000mm by 500mm by 6mm HDPE.
I have orded 4 100mm blue wheels with nut insert but they have not arived yet.
already got one drill motor for testing

will get other 3 shortly.
I'm using this transmitter

when I start building I will add photos.

Re: Bodge Job's Build Diary
You seem to have used a lot of 'embarrassed' emoticons there; don't worry, with so many complete, half-built and failed robots out there, picking the same name as another robot happens quite often
The Bodge Job team competed in Rex's Robot Challenge 2004 and their own Teesdale Challenge in 2005. Back then I believe the team members were in their final school year so they will have gone on to university, college or jobs etc. The robot belonged to the school I think, and last I heard, the technology teacher who was a principle organiser of the robot side of things left for another school so the chances are the robot is on display somewhere in the school and hasn't been touched in several years (could be wrong though)
It's up to you if you change the name or if you want to stick with Bodge Job. It'll confuse me for a little while as I fought against it a couple of times and got on well with the team but I'll get used to it :P
The robot also didn't compete in the 'main' robot fighting scene (ie. Roaming Robots, XFM (at the time) etc) so it probably wouldn't confuse too many people.
Best of luck with the build

Re: Bodge Job's Build Diary
near the shaft there are 8 or so holes full of ball bearings
remove all of those and either put a screw down there (not to far or your mess up the plate) until you can only move the shaft side to side a little bit
the best option is to get 2 grub screws per motor and use them as they won't pretude out the gearbox
i think the size you need is 2.5mm grub screws not sure

Re: Bodge Job's Build Diary
It's M5 in the drills I've just modified, just cut a piece of bolt to the correct length and cut a slot in the top to save a bit of money.
Also, if the gearbox opens at both ends, the correct sized o-ring can be used instead of grubscrews but it will allow slip and protect the motor and gearbox if it stalls.

it would just save alot of hassle of taking them apart and fitting grub screws, unless of course you wanted the chucks and batts.
