You can probably get away with less exposed wheels due to both designs not looking invertible and is it a saw or a spinner?

            Re: new robot design

Are you wanting to be able to use the robot alot? Because if you go with a spinning weapon you will only be able to use it one or two times a year.
Saws wont really do much damage at all, Plus you have to be careful what you use as off the shelf hardened disks arnt allowed.
And the second design looks more like Minion than anything else I think.

              Re: new robot design

yeh very good point it maby worth while just building a wedge, ram or thwack bot. probably will be easyer to make and a bit cheaper considering its a first time build. id rather have a cheaper bot get smashed up rather than a more expensive one. coz i noticed ther are quite a few nasty looking spinners in the featherweights

                Re: new robot design

you could just make a really faster drive bot with some nasty spikes etc on the outside armour then spin in circles and try and hit stuff

that way you can sue at all events plus it's kind of a spinner

not sure what genre of robot weapon it would fall into

                  Re: new robot design

Sounds like a thwackbot to me, I think they're covered in the rules (as long as it doesn't spin above 500rpm you're safe and it's not officially a spinner?)

I am reminded of TDD and Minion.

                        Re: new robot design

If your not going with a spinner, put a flipper or an axe or something on it atleast.

the designs look extemely complicated for your first robot.

                            Re: new robot design

I think that the first one looks a bit like dead metal from robot wars.

Also, my first robot, Predator is going to be just as complicated. My Dad is an engineer though...

KISS applies in robots more than you could ever imagine (Keep It Simple Stupid).

Also the name predator has been taken by James Cooper for his latest machine unless I am mistaken (been in the planning for a long while now)
