      Re: Gravity 5

I just love the fact that there's a strip of masking tape going across the top of the ram, as if it will stop 1000kg or more of thrust should the ram accidentaly fire :P
I know that's not what it's actually for but it just quite funny

        more grungineering

looks evil already ! I think its a bit too high, but you just can't fit a 20cm ram + a 60x30x3mm box section flipper arm + a sloped robot inside a low or short profile
        but heres the pics

              Re: Gravity 5

I did exactly the same thing with the arm on Apocalypse, but im planning to revert to the original design as it made the ratio to the pivot wrong so the arm was too short. I would go longer, but then my system isn't as refined as yours will be im sure.

                Re: Gravity 5

                you calling this refined ?

If it doesn't work, making a new flipper arm wont be the end of the world.
Also, the ram currently has an effective stroke of 165mm, and the pivot:arm ratio is about 1:3, and that worked pretty good on my previous robot. Might not be as spectacular, so no robots getting stuck in the roof of the arena, but it will still tip them over again and again and again

                          Re: Gravity 5

yeah, the gearboxes are for that size wheels, so sticking with it.
Also, pneumatic tires take alot of the crashes etc out of the chassis...

It should pivot around the back end because of the weight, but I don't know before I try
