    Hey guys

Since Cabrakan's motor failiure, and our new motors not fitting the wheels we've decided to make a new Cabrakan, and we'll be keeping the forum updated on its progress, as well as the progress in the rebuilding of Hell's Angel and repair work on my other 5 robots

      Cool, Davey.

Will we ever see Flipping Hell come to reality?

It may well do, but it won't be for a while yet, the mechanics are going to take some working out for it

            Hey guys

Well after a few failiures with Satanix's controls, I've replaced the modified Scorpion XXL with a pair of Victors 883's, however mounting them is decidedly difficult, trying to drill through the hardox base :P

Also, with a lot of help from Pete Waller, Stewie's interferance issue has been cured, so hopefully it'll be much better ready for AWS 30 (14th November in Richmond if you wanna come along)

Araldite works for Hydra and SMIDSY's electronize switches. Just make sure you wipe both surfaces with meths before you stick it down and it's fine.

If you still want to drill you will need a low speed pillar drill and a cobalt drill of the right size.

I have found Hardox will break any drill below 5mm. 5mm and 6mm drills go through just nice and then you can ope them up with a 10mm drill just nicely BUT you do need to be running the drill at about 250rpm, have cobalt drills and have a drill sharpner.

                  Re: Team Hell/GDH build diaries

Well I've managed to break two drill bits drilling the last hole, only to find the drill shifted when I went to drill it and its in the wrong place, so the left hand controller is going to be part bolted and part stuck :P

                    Re: Team Hell/GDH build diaries

Ive never had a problem drilling anything down to a 2mm hole with hardox.

Get a hold of some decent cobalt drill bits, a pillar drill and a G-clamp to properly secure the workpiece. Take it nice and easy and apply some form of coolant. You will have no problem going through.

Don't bother trying to use a hand held drill, you will never be able to hold the drill steady enough to get through and the vibration will break your drill bits. I also don't recommend using HSS bits. Great for ali and titanium but terrible for hardox.

                        Re: Team Hell/GDH build diaries

You can pick up one off ebay for around 60 quid including delivery or if thats too much you can always buy one of these stands

                        http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/45mm-Collar-Power ... 3a462ed826

and use your regular drill with it. My pillar drill has been one of the most useful tools I ever bought apart from my small lathe and I managed to get it cheap out of B and Q for 35 quid during a sale.

                          Re: Team Hell/GDH build diaries

                          Quick update:

Satanix was back in working order for Maidstone, but we had issues with the controller, for some reason the stick had to be halfway between neutral and full power before one wheel starts moving, which means straight line control is hard. I also had an issue with the wheels, the bolt holding the axle in came loose during its second fight and has come loose during transit. I'm wondering if I should use threadlock to hold it in, but I may wanna be able to break the bond again when I take the unit apart for maintenance.

During my after event check I also found my link wire has come loose, so needs re-soldering, as does my LED wires, as it no longer lights up with the power up.

Stewie burnt out a flipper servo at Maidstone, got a replacement one at £14 cost :S

New version of Baby Hell will soon be on its way, going to 4WD and 11.1v, to up the power by a considerable amout.

I'm also making 4 new robots for the new year; Heretic, my replacement for F.I.N in full combat, it'll be an AW clone of MW champion Hazard, Baby Tilly 2, a re-make of Shanes ant, KillAntron, an AW replica of Killertron to be a run-all-day robot for live events, and finally, As yet unnamed replica of The Saint

                            Hey guys

Been a while since I posted, lots gone on since.

the small news first: Due to run in with Variant, I had to get a new battery and new chassis for Stewie, which was kindly milled out for me by ALK engineering (AKA Kenny), I'll be putting it together shortly

The antweight Saint (Whom I've given the working title 'St Jimmy') is coming along well, very hard to fit all the stuff in the cylindrical body :P

I have found out since Wigan that the cause of Satanix's drive issue was the MIXER was not calibrated, so I'll shortly be fixing that, and once it has been, I'll fit the gyro and go about shaving weight

Now the big news, Cabrakan II is on its way, and very quickly thanks to the sterling efforts of Team Xtreme Robotics (Tom Armitage) and his welding skills, making me a pair of beefy motor mounts and a working weapon.

Yes, no more steel chisel, got myself a lifting wedge:
                            http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7K7DZ3AoXM

On this video its only on 0.6A 12v trickle charge power, but Tom reliably informs me it can lift his freind with ease, and the lifter is actually rated for 24v, and I'll be running it on 36v.

                            More news to come
