    Re: THE LONG WALK!!

those legs do have a certain hypnotic factor, this is a really interesting build , but this isnt going to compete as a fighting robot right ? As part of the brighton robotics club im building a dinky 2 servo walker , give ya a race .

This is the first test of Arac mk 3....legs are still a bit wobbley...but its just the joints that need tightening,,,anyway you will get the idea...

        Re: THE LONG WALK!!

Is that gear-crow a walker too? Are there any videos of it? I saw it on the mutant robots website and started to wonder if this thing ever worked?

That is a realy nice walker.

Is it all new or made of bits from the MkII Arac bot?

          Hope to see it soon

are you going to any events this year?

            Re: THE LONG WALK!!

            Hi Craig
Many thanks for kind words...The Mk 3 ARAC...is a cut down, much lighter version...the legs and levers all come from the mk 2 bot (no way was i gonna go thru all that again !!)
The body and internals are all new....i have lost the jaws and tail mechanisms to make it much lighter also it is now powered by 2 wheelchair motors as opposed to 4. It now not only looks good ...the bloody thing works !!! and takes up much less room in the trailer.

            Cheers Froggy

              Re: THE LONG WALK!!

Watching your robot€™s weight seems to always be the problem. With my walker the weight seems to increase to a point where I will be drilling loads of holes soon if things don€™t level out, I was hoping to keep the robot to about 60Kg but it will be more like 75Kg I think. Plus the motors I bought will be too small so like you I am looking for a couple of wheelchair motors for the project soon.
Also because of the extra leg length on my type of design, I will have to stiffen them too (more weight) and so the long walk continues.

                  Hi Craig
Hope things aren€™t too bad at the moment. Were still praying for good news for you.
Any walker qualifies! And your one works that€™s more than I can say for my effort at the moment I have been sorting out St Hammer, Tron and Seraphim plus the new heavy.
So far I have four legs on the first pod and most of the bits to make up the second pod the idea is to finish the walker then fix all the problems I will have, like legs too flexible or the links not quite the right length motor not powerful enough this sort of thing.

                  Hope to see you soon

                  Craig

                          Hi Guys
While awaiting bronze bushes to arrive (many thanks Mario) to get the legs walking properly...i have continued the silly constructions..so we now have scanning blue spotlight eyes....blue LED light show running from front to back...and a posion venom spiitting system.....(water pistol)... Wot fun !!!

                          Cheers Froggy

                              Re: THE LONG WALK!!

You know I was looking at this walker and thinking if I get the time I might make a Feather walker using this same mechanism, as I think it is about as robust as they come. The legs out of HDPE and the gears well in the body of the machine it would have to have a self righting system. Probably an electric Axe would be fun!!!

If you do build the feather walker then a hammer mechanism like this would be awesome:
                                http://www.totalinsanity.net/blogs/f...llnews&f_id=46

That'll pack a nasty punch
