  • A new American Heavyweight...

Okay. I looked on the Battlebots website, and apparently they're having a new tourney in November. Therefore, I must have a heavyweight robot(For now codenamed Armagedeathbot 3000) operational for the tourney.

The basic design is supposed to consist of an invertible wedge with a pneumatic spike in the wedge to hopefully flip opponents over and cause damage.

I haven't gotten started with it yet, because I need help choosing parts, some teammates, and some other minor things.

Here's the hitch: I need to build as cheap of a heavyweight as possible that can still run, so I need suggestions for very cheap, yet good, motors, speed controllers, pneumatic canisters, wheels, armour, remote controllers, and frame metal.

wheel chair motors are nice and cheap and you can use the the system from that for the speedo very basic but works

might be an idea to post this in a heavyweight topic may get more views

Off the top of my head...

      -SLA's
-Overvolted wheelchair motors, ideally 4 of 'em
-Decent ESC, couple of Victors would do the job
      -Spektrum Dx5e
-CO2 fire extinguisher (as the tank, use the original pin and drill another couple of holes to allow you to lock it open - this will be your tank valve) run through a regulator into a buffer tank, dump valve, 5-way valve setup and pneumatic cylinder - a lot of this stuff can be ebayed. Get some help with the pneumatics - they can be dangerous.
-Chassis made from steel box section (chromoly if possible, will need heat treating later) welded together
-Kart slicks, filled with foam or whatever
-Hardox or similar toughened (wearplate) armour, it isn't THAT expensive.

Good idea... I'll do it right now.

A big problem is that there aren't any scrapyards within 100 miles of where I live, so finding spare motors might be a problem.

Luckily, my Uncle owns a company that produces SLA batteries, so I could get batteries from him for very cheap.

For a Co2 tank, I was thinking of using 2 700g paintball tanks.

I've found some stainless steel at a hardware store. might be able to use it.

I also found some nice lawn mower wheels, ranging from 5 inches to 8 inches in diameter.
