  • Dynastinae Build Diary

Here goes my first attempt at building a beetleweight, here is my past lists, once these have arrived I shall start sketching out a design to build it around, I'm going for a lifter first but with the option of it being a spinner at a later date.

    Drive Motor
    12v 1000rpm motors 25D X 4

    Drive Motor ESC
    Bitbotz 10a ESC X 2

    Weapon
TURNIGYâ„¢ TGY-306G-HV Servo (shall be using the servo initially but converting to spinner later after gaining experience)
    TURNIGY AERODRIVE SK3 - 3542-1185KV Motor

    Weapon ESC
TURNIGY PLUSH 60AMP SPEED CONTROLLER W/BEC

    Battery
    TURNIGY NANO-TECH 1000MAH 3S 45~90C
    TURNIGY NANO-TECH 2200MAH 3S 35~70C (will only be using 1 of these)

    Receiver - lemon RX

    Transmitter - spectrum dx6

    Chassis - 3D print

Anyone care to roll their eyes over this list and see if its all compatible?

the 2.2ah battery is very overkill, the 1ah till be more than enough for a fight, except for that it all seems alright. Might want one esc per motor on the drive rather than 1 going to 2 motors, not sure if the botzbits will be happy with that.

Ah well I start it with 2wd but keep space for another 2 ESC's

also, would anyone be kind enough to help me with a wiring diagram with my parts? Ideally need 2 diagrams, one using the servo as a flipper, and the other using the turnigy aerodrive and plush ESC for spinner?

How about you try and draw one up and we'll correct it?

              Servo as a flipper diagram

              Lemon RX -> ch3 -> Servo

Perfect! All that's left to put in is a switch or removable link on the live cable before it gets to the esc's. Also don't forget that you only need power from one esc to get to the receiver or it will pop. You do this by cutting the live or earth (can't remember which, am hoping someone will step in here) so that only the signal gets to the receiver and not several lots of amps. The reiver futuba type cables are live, earth n signal.

What would be a good choice of wheels to fit a 4mm motor shaft?

Banebots wheels are mentioned heavily on here. They fit straight on to different shaft sizes, have options for double or even triple wheels on one hub and are meant to be quite grippy. I will be using a double set for my Beetleweight, once FD finally has his first fight.

                        Here is the link: http://www.banebots.com/category/WHEELSHUBS.html

You have to get them sent across from the US so check the postage, import tax etc.

You usually cut the red wire to turn off the BEC power supply from the esc to the receiver (when you have a black, white and red wire).

I trimmed mine just before the connection to the receiver so the rest of the cable didn't peel apart along its length, cut a couple of mm off so it couldn't accidentally short together, and then taped the ends.

Yeah, don't cut the ground wire, you need that to reference the data signal. Also you don't have to cut them. There is a little flap you can pull up to remove the wire from the connector without cutting it. See here:

Thanks for that information, got the rest of my bits arriving tomorrow to get it wired up, so think ill be fine now, however still am unsure about wheels as id rather not source them from the US and find a UK supplier of suitable wheels, since I was doing a hobbyking order I added these to it just to trial before finding some better ones.

                              https://hobbyking.com/en_us/super-li...-5pcs-bag.html

                              reckon they'll be good?
