  • Source for Banebots Wheels

I need to reduce the wheels size in Spinza from 73mm to ~50mm. Easy! I thought, I'll just go buy some more Banebot wheels and swap out the 73mm wheels I already have.

    WRONG!

Does anyone know where you can purchase them? I'd rather not have to think up a new way to affix wheels. The hex mount works well.

All the Banebots wheels are out of production; it looks like they are switching over to re-selling Colson wheels with their own range of hubs. Given that the Banebots wheels don't last very long, its best to swap to something else, even if you find a few wheels 2nd hand.

Fingertech foam wheels from Technobots, so much grip and light as anything. They also do the snap hubs which attach to the wheels, I got some custom hubs made up but they're basically the same i think.

I just wanted to avoid having to re-buy the hubs as well.

If anyone has any spare, drop me a line. Otherwise, looks like I'm changing!

Yeah, looks like they've revamped the website. Although it looks like the wheels are only half as wide as they were before.

It seems they have double- and triple-width hubs available in the T40 fitting. Might be good news if anyone was looking for an alternative!

The currently only have the 1/2in hex hubs (T40's) and the 10mm wide wheels for sale, so Beetleweight size, not FW.

They used to sell 3/4in hex hubs and 20mm wide wheels (of various diameters) but they have stopped making them and there is currently no reason to think they will return.

I've used Banebots hubs in the past but had issues with the grub screws used to hold them on to the motor shafts. They were very small, with an equally small imperial Allen key required to tighten them, and soon after the hex holes started to round out and it became difficult to tighten them onto the shafts.

Having received some of the new T40 hubs though, the grub screw appears to have a more coarse thread and are perhaps one Allen key size larger (probably still imperial) so they should be a bit more reliable and suitable in beetleweights (so long as you can protect your wheels against horizontal impacts that could pull them off the motors).
