Did a bit o Red Wedding stuff.

      Step 1: make small hole

      Step 2: make it bigger

      insert motor and boomdone.

Getting a guy to print some hubs for the wheels if they ain't strong enough I'll turn some. Progressing nicely

That looks sweet man, are the drive motors just a push fit or is there something else holding them in?

Gonna make up some steel parts that mount the motors by the faceplate. Cheers

Do you think I should call my bar spinner 'Live and Let Die Boat Chase', cos if you are going to ruin a wedding, ruin it in style... or is that going just a little to far?

Hi, just wondering, what are foam wheels like for grip and wear and stuff?

These fingertech ones are great for grip. Int used them so I can't comment on wear

Cheers Haz. I'm just thinking of alternatives to banebots ones as there's hardly any left at technobots. I think foam wheels will work nicely though.

Bored out the other motor mount.

Then decided to have a quick wire up and see how the thing drives. Had to piss about with the mixer for ages to get it to behave. Stuff is very shoehorned in atm because lack of proper mountings.

It drove tho. Pretty nice although control is a bit clunky still. Mind you that might just be my own driving skill or lack thereof.

Then gave it a weigh, was surprised.

Kinda tempted to make it a proper beetle not one of our 1.5kg fatties. The armour is 8mm alu so there is weight to come out of there if needs be.

How are you going to stop the wires from touching the outrunner? There is almost no space in there!
And you may as well take it to 1.5kg given that is now the official weight limit.
                        Amazing machine regardless!

Will bend some 1mm polycarb into a guard to stop wires getting eaten. Will leave that until I get a pulley sorted.

                          Cheers.

Had a day off today so I relaxed by piddling around with some stuff on Red Wedding.

Grabbed some generic offcuts of some random steel, squared them up and then began shaping them into face mounts for the motors.

Mount 1 nearly finished next to a bit of steel it was made from.

Holes drilled and tapped in the frame. The hole for the motor was a pretty tight fit so it was pretty important for it all to line up right.

eeeh. Close enough. It also got painted black because reasons.

Both mounts made + motors attached.

                            Mounts done.
