  • Quick and simple beetle for Burgess Hill

Since Eggbeater still needs a proper look at/overhaul to make it work as well as possible I'm making a basic, simple beetleweight to bum around with and not need much maintenance.

No massive KE weapons because its pointless this early in the beetleweight game. Massive battery so it can keep going all day and a solid frame. It will be upgraded to a 4 bar lifter when I get the time.

Frame is simple as can be. Aluminium sides with chopping board things.

Weight is nothing! Odd feeling for me.

With the battery its still <700g

Eggbeater dwarfs it, but then Eggbeater is larger than some countries.

Plenty of weight for some ballast/bits of armour and wedgey goodness. Speed should be moderate too. Gonna get some foamy wheels for it to save the gearboxes. Looking at a shade over 2 m/s which is plenty in a 2m square arena. If you fancy a drive of it and it's still running feel free to ask

Oh and this robot is a total rip off of Nick's beetleweight :3

It's so diddy! I thought it looked familiar

No idea how big Nick's was but mine really isn't that diddy. I think its about medium for beetles this is 150 by 135. Will get wider and longer when I add wedge and wheels.

I did consider spikes but then I remembered you had them so I though I'd best do something different. I think that when I make it a 4 bar lifter I'll add hinged skirts which should push the footprint out a bit.

Haha, mine's only 120 wide and half that long on the plan I've drawn up for it... I'm following HardWired II's example of making a tiny machine and just putting way too much armour on it, except this one has magnets and other fun things.
