there isn't a lipo battery going to the brushless esc.
andy offered you some blades a while back, please use them if he still has them. don't make your own.
and please do not use the tap wrench.

        Ok,

First the tap wrench is VERY unsafe. It is highly likely to fall of and going flying off and will be vey unbalaced. I would speak to Kenny to get a blade made.

for the speed controller and motor, make sure the middle wire on the esc(speed controller) goes to the middle wire on the motor and the other 2 can go either way round.

The red wire should connect to the red(+ or positive) wire of a lipo or ni-mh and the black should connect to the black(- or negative) wire.

for the lipo I would use a 2s (or 3s) 1000mAh like this one

solder this connector on the ESC, but make sure it is the right way round other wise there will be a big bang!

                    Hi guys it's pugsters mum....
Sorry if he's blunt...he had a 6 hour round trip to go to robo challenge today and is disappointed that there were no beetle weights!!
Can we prevent this in the future?is there a way we can see who's actually signed up and is hoping to come!?
I think he did really well to get that robot sorted and there today!!x

think of it like you won by default

Yeah, since beetleweights are still very new, there are only a few around. The Robo Challenge events mainly focus on featherweight robots, and since the UK championships are just over a week away, most people attending would probably be giving their attention to the FW class and may not have a beetleweight robot, let alone a fully-working one.

The Robo Challenge guys did offer beetleweights the chance to get some arena time, but it's not always possible to run a competition with so few robots. I also know of a couple of roboteers who were planning on attending with beetleweights but had to pull out due to various reasons. It's unfortunate, especially since Pugster got his beetleweight running in time, but it can take a while for a new weight class to build up a strong presence at events.

I think the only way to avoid something like this happening again is to ask for a sign-up list before the event to see who's competing, and to ask the organisers nearer the time if there are still plans to run a specific robot type. But other than that, it's difficult to tell how much competition there will be.

We had a few that we're due to be there but had to pull out for whatever reason, it wasn't really predictable it was going to happen, but deegan got to drive 2 Fw's at the event and still got to use it and had time to do stuff to it, so I would have said he had a worthwhile trip.
