  • Teeny Tiny Receiver?

    Hi all,

Basically, just looking for a recommendation. After a 2.4ghz Transmitter that comes with a teeeeeny tiny receiver for a really compact ant build (I'm currently using Planet r6m which classes itself as a micro receiver but I still find it to be too big lol).

I don't need anything too fancy, just something which can do forward/backwards, left/right, and maybe opporate a servo/extra weapon motor.

Anything anyone can recommend would be amazing! Thanks

    There's this one: https://hobbyking.com/en_us/orangerx...___store=en_us

As I understand, it's basically a normal OrangeRx 6 channel receiver without the connectors for normal servo leads. You have to solder the connections on yourself.

Lemon Rx used to make one too I think, but that was DSM2 and they've now discontinued it (possibly they'll bring out a DSMX version at some point?).

Thanks man! Not gonna lie I've always been a 'plug in, try different wiring combinations and hope for the best' kind of guy so that one does look a little daunting haha! Are there any good tutorials on how to wire up a receiver like that?

Also, do you know if it's open to any 2.4ghz controller or only specific ones? (My area of roboteering is more fabrication than electrical aha....)

Oh nice, guessing they're pretty 'open source' as it was then? Haha.

Cheers guys, I'll do some more digging into this receiver.

The DSM2/X protocols are for Spektrum radios - so if you have a Spektrum transmitter you can use this, or a Devo that's been flashed to be compatible. If you have any other transmitter it won't work, as far as I know.

BTW, if you want something that's quite tiny but still plugs in as normal, LemonRx might be a good bet. They have all the normal pins to plug in servo cables but without a plastic shell, so they're less bulky/heavy. Probably twice the weight of the OrangeRx one, especially when you factor in that you won't need the connectors on the servo leads, but it may be a suitable halfway house that saves a bit of mass and volume but keeps everything plug and play.

Thanks for the reccomendation! After a spot of looking I managed to find the below:

I've ordered both to see how I get on with them and how many channels I'll actually need. Stay tuned! (This will most likely be updated in my build diary haha).
