  • Antweight building questions

    Hi.

i've got a few questions about building my antweight:

1.Would it be recommended to use hot glue to stick pieces of polycarb armour together?
2.where can i buy motor mounts from(or could i use hot glue)?
3.where can i buy a small, but powerful motor from?
4.what would be a good material to use for a spinning disc(excluding the teeth) and where could i buy some?
5.what be a recommended thickness for polycarb armour?

I would be very grateful if somebody could help me out.

    Go to robotwars101.
1- fold and bolt, not glue
2-for drive? botbitz do some, or check robotbits?technobots if weapon, bolt it. do not glue it.
3-for drive? Botbitz. for a weapon. check hobbyking or giantshark
4- stainless steel ruler can be used, I recommend lasercut titanium 2-4mm
    5-2mm should do as armour

how much experience do you have, spinners aren't a good idea for beginners.

what exactly do you mean by fold and bolt?

Not a great deal of experience, no. I might go for a flipper instead.

Just out of interest, why are spinner-bots not a good idea for beginners.

Spinners can be complicated, expensive and dangerous.
Fold and bolt is where you make your shell or a part out of a flat piece of material, e.g. 1mm polycarb and you fold it into shape and use bolts to hold it together, like http://www.windisch.co.uk/robots/archives/39 for example.
Another construction method would be to use bulkheads and tap/screw into those.
