AW recievers

I currently have a Spectrum DX6 transmitter. If I were to buy this receiver: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Orange-6ch-Re ... 27cab09317 how would I bind it to the transmitter? Also does this receiver have all the safety cutouts needed for an ant?

It won't bind to a dx6 at all as it is DSM2 and the dx6 is DSM1. You'll probably struggle to find a suitable receiver for a dsm1 transmitter anymore.

Oh I see, that's very annoying... Does anyone else still run the DX6? Is there any option for new receivers for DSM1? If not is the DX6 Transmitter we have redundant? Thanks for the help.

Unfortunately the dx6 is pretty much redundant, so unless you can get hold of a ar/br6000 or similar than you would need a new radio (dx6i, Dx5e or one of the newer, cheaper dsm transmitters (like the Hobbyking T6 or a e-flight Blade (all Dsm2 tech, all work with much cheaper receivers than Spektrum brand ones).

there are quite a few different similar recievers is this one ok or would a slightly different model be better ?

I do know the tx link I have put on is for £95 and its maybe cheaper 2nd hand or elsewhere its just to show people with the pic, but i might buy it new so ive got a garantee.

Having never used Spektrum gear I'm not 100% familiar with their programming/operation, but with the difficulty in obtaining bot receivers for them, could the DX6s theoretically be fitted with conversion/hack modules? Obviously they're already on 2.4GHz but if the PPM-equivalent line can have the module soldered on, that would open up the possibility of continued usage of the DX6s through the likes of Corona and FrSky (the FrSky receivers in particular are incredibly easy when it comes to setting failsafes on all channels).

Considering the problem some have had with the module hacks I don't recommend them, but it is a possibility.

As I mainly build ants, and lots of them, I would say a DSM2 transmitter is essential, as it allows you a source of very good, small, and cheap receivers. If you're planning on building more than one robot, then it will probably be cost effective to get yourself a dx6i. Or even as Dave suggested, get yourself a cheaper DSM2 transmitter. There were some blade ones on eBay for a tenner recently. Not packed with features, but they will do all the basics.
