I've been thinking it's time to build my first weaponised bot considering I've been competing with rambots for 5 years now so I wanted to run the specs past you all for opinions and possibly any improvements I could make. It's an axe bot by the way!
* 10mm HDPE base with 15mm HDPE weapon bulkheads
* rubber mounted 4 or 5mm steel armour (either wear or mild steel depending on how much the internals and chassis end up weighing)
* 2wd using 80mm wheels, argos gearboxes and 28-26 1350kv NTM motors (possibly slightly overvolted). I'm already running this motor/ gearbox setup in my current bot and its not too bad!
* 1000w 500kv motor driving a 200mm-ish axe arm via a 10:1 gear ratio, using mini moto gears and chain. The axe assembly would run on a 15mm silver steel/ olrite bushing arrangement. I calculated the ratio using the axe bot tutorial on the robowars website.
* 5s 3000mah lipo to power everything. Travel reduced on the motor channels to reduce max voltage down to 4s levels although there might be a slight overvolt.
I won't bore you with details of the electronics as they'll get lifted from my current bot but the next step if this bot gets built would be to implement some kind of arduino control system for the axe, possibly with the choice of firing mechanism (Auto, Semi, single).
